Marko Janković, Chairman of the Securities Commission of the Republic of Serbia, and Radivoje Petrović, Chief Audit Controller, participated in the forum “Beyond Compliance: Financial Reporting for Growth and Jobs”, held on 5–6 October 2026 in Vienna, organized by the World Bank’s Centre for Financial and Sustainability Reporting Reform (CFRR).
The Forum brought together representatives of government authorities, public oversight bodies, professional accountancy organizations, academia, and development partners from countries across Europe and Central Asia. The event aimed to explore how high-quality financial reporting, accounting, and auditing can contribute to strengthening confidence, improving access to finance, attracting investment, fostering economic growth, and creating new jobs.
During the two-day programme, participants discussed the outcomes of corporate financial reporting reforms implemented to date and priorities for the coming period, the application of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in financial reporting and auditing, sustainability reporting, financing for small and medium-sized enterprises, and enhancing the financial transparency of state-owned enterprises.
Of particular relevance to the Commission was the session “Improving Audit Quality and Market Confidence through Audit Oversight”, which focused on the role of independent and effective public oversight in improving audit quality and strengthening confidence in financial reporting. Special attention was given to quality inspections, enforcement measures, risk-based supervision, audit market monitoring, addressing recurring inspection findings, and preparations for new requirements related to sustainability reporting assurance.
The participation of the Commission’s representatives in the Forum provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and best practices with representatives of public oversight bodies and other relevant institutions, as well as to explore further opportunities for strengthening the public oversight system for auditing and improving the quality of financial reporting in the Republic of Serbia.
