Non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction

 
The Ministry of Finance and its Administration for the Prevention of Money Laundering submitted to the Securities Commission a notification of requirements Republic of Serbia needs to meet in the area of non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), in connection with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1540 on non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and means of their delivery.

In addition to the United Nations Security Council mandatory sanctions lists referring to the identified lists of terrorists, legal and natural persons are required to apply the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council for prevention of financing activities on proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

Although many obligors, primarily the banking sector, check information through their software systems, as provided for in resolutions, a large number of obligors is not cognizant of the United Nations Security Council requirements concerning  non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

The notification aims to raise awareness with all of the participants in the anti-money laundering and terrorism financing system about the threats pertaining to proliferation of mass destruction weapons and to that end timely actions in order to prevent any consequences.
